Unbelievable!!! - This place is a slice of heaven. To say this was the best place I have stayed is an understatement. Absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and the the people are... read more second to none. We wanted for nothing the entire stay. The place was entirely booked and we felt like we were there by ourselves. Food was delicious and the excursions where top notch. We will be back!!!
This place is incredible. Our casita was clean, gorgeous and BIG. We especially loved the shower with the rain forest view, and the private hot tub on the deck with... read more a view of the volcano! Super comfy beds as well. Everything about it was just luxurious. We stayed for a week, and loved coming back to the casita in the afternoons after exploring the local attractions.
The grounds are also lovely, and there is wildlife everywhere. We did the guided walk our first day, and the shorter walk on our own on another day. Saw lots of animals and birds on both walks. The pools are small, but very nice, and one has a heated pool with a bar. We also enjoyed a couples massage in the spa, and I used the incredible yoga studio.
Note that the facilities are all on a fairly steep hill. This was not a problem for us, but could be for anyone with mobility issues (though they will come pick you up in a golf cart upon request). If you don’t want to climb the hill a lot, ask for a casita at the top, near the restaurant and spa.
The staff are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond to be helpful. They even did our laundry at no charge since we were there several days. And someone noticed that my husband’s birthday was coming up and left him a slice of cake in the room!
The restaurant breakfast is great, and quite a lot of food. The dinners are a little more variable, and quite expensive. It is great to have the on-site restaurant as an option, but it’s also good to get “off-campus” for meals, especially if you have a car. I did wish that the coffee shop offered sandwiches to go. What with the giant breakfast, we really just wanted a snack for lunch on the days that we were there during the day, and there wasn’t really a way to get that on the grounds.
I loved our week here so much I actually got teary as we drove away. It was an amazing couples getaway!
This was an amazing place. They basically cut out a swath of the rain forest on a mountain that was just large enough for some private Casitas and some... read more other resort niceties like a pool, swim up bar and restaurant. Everything was so lush and you could see the volcano from the restaurant.
The casitas were really nice. Each one has a private deck and your own hot tub. We used ours every day. 2 notes if you sure visiting. First, the rooms get very humid. They provide a dehumidifier but we needed to empty ours 3 times a day. Just pulling a ton of water out of the air. Understandable given where you are. Second, highly recommend going into nearby Fortuna for some of your dinner meals. It's a $12 cab ride each way but well worth it to experience the local cuisine.
Finally, they had a great staff that were very nice and were eager to help serve you in any way you asked. All in all, a wonderful experience that we would highly recommend.
