The service is top notch and honestly what made this place that much better. Jogebeth greeted us and we were able to check in a little early and check out the property. We never got to swim in the pools cause we loved our own but they had a nice setup and it was never crowded. The main restaurant is available all day and breakfast is free though it's still table service so don't expect a buffet. It's a bit pricey but the food and ingredients are fresh and I loved the freshly squeezed juices with breakfast. Ronald, the host, was always helpful and Oscar, the bartender, was an absolute joy so we did the mixology class with him (amazing) and the Central American rum tasting - both fun options at the hotel. We also recommend the Tico Grill for the special grill dinner that comes with two types of meat each and an assembly of sides plus dessert (and drinks if you pay additional). It's A LOT so we recommend skipping the drinks and choosing different meats as they provide a good portion - Valeria, the host there, was very accommodating and helpful. Jose was our waiter for the private dinner for the honeymoon package and he was wonderful having set up the room with petals everywhere, music, and candles. We could hear and see the jungle while we enjoyed the delicious meal that include filet mignon, sea bass, and lobster. They take you around in golf carts everywhere so you don't have to walk to any location on the property unless you want to but we liked the walk (though be careful at night with the critters and if you're uphill). Get the chocolate cake at the bakery (it's decadent) and enjoy all the drinks in the minibar as they are included. The yoga is free and it's so peaceful in that room but we also loved the meditation room for the views of the jungle. Definitely splurge on the spa if that's something you enjoy - get their signature massage and relax while listening to the rain and birds. We booked everything through the hotel because it was easier so they printed an itinerary that included details, time, and cost. Things to keep in mind: There are critters and bugs so be careful when walking at night or when you're on the patio. If you get room service there is an additional charge & if you refill the minibar (including water) it's a little pricey. We left a little tip each time but if you eat at the restaurant every day (we did for breakfast and usually dinner) it adds up so make sure to budget for that. The one thing we wish was a little clearer with the bill because when you get the bill when you check out, if you're like us and book activities through the hotel and charge every meal to the room, it's gonna be kinda difficult to understand what each charge is. If you want to check it item by item you will need help. They can also set you up with pickup and dropoff to the airport and that's super helpful we highly recommend it because it's quite a trek. Overall we'd definitely stay there again - truly EVERYONE we encountered was so polite and helpful. At one the waiter came to us and asked if we wanted to see a toucan (not easy to spot) and it's that kind of attentiveness that we appreciated. The grounds are beautiful and we loved the privacy and the consistently good service so we'd definitely come back. More

WANT TO TALK ABOUT SPECTACULAR? ROMANTIC? ENCHANTING?
I’m not sure how we heard about the Amor Arenal, but you’re... read more hearing about it here!!!
This is a relatively new place, set up as a row of small homes, or casitas, placed strategically up the side of a mountain. This is definitely an adult only experience. From the moment of arrival, the staff is so gracious, helpful and full of local intel. We had actually done so much pre-planning with them we were ready to just jump in to the local activities.
Until we got to our room. Each casita is extraordinary. While they are placed next to each other, the placement and landscaping are such you’ll never hear or see your neighbor. Which is a good thing once you see the bed welcoming your arrival. I’ve never been in a two-person-rainfall type shower that is basically glass on two sides, literally putting you into the rainforest. So, when you’re ready, you can step onto your deck to the hot tub. Remember nobody can see you!!! (You can even adjust the underwater lighting to your fav color).
The amenities are fantastic. The Spa rooms are part and parcel with the forest around you. No need for white noise during your massage; you’d miss the crickets and wind. The pools are not for lap swimming but do allow you to swim up to the bar. You want the pina colada! If you have a need to exercise, the gym is amazingly well equipped and hangs into the rain forest. I watched a number of birds while on the elliptical! Remember to reserve a naturalist for a walk around the property.
While there are many local restaurants, why would you bother. The restaurant is fantastic, delicious and you can eat on the porch literally in the forest. I’m not sure which meal is best-est. Make sure you do breakfast at least one day. Though after that, you’ll probably just eat in every day of your stay.
Since you are in the area to see the local sites, it's not a problem. The hotel is almost literally in the middle of just about everything you would want to do. If you can get yourself out of your hot tub!!!
This was our first stop on our Costa Rica trip and I think we could have just stayed here for the duration. The accomodations were among the best we have... read more ever stayed in. The staff was helpful and gracious. From the trail hike Billy led (2 hours around the property which in a rain forest) to Rachel being a most helpful spirit, this was a super introduction to Costa Rica.
The food was very good and prices in line with expectations. The staff accommodated us in any way we asked. Unfortunately our stay was short (2 nights) so we did not get a chance to experience everything. I heartily recommend this if you are looking to be taken away from the world for a time.
