We stayed at Amro Arenal for our honeymoon and got the honeymoon package (romantic room setup, massage, and private dinner) and it's totally worth it. While you don't always see the volcano cause of the fog, we got enjoyed stunning views of it early in the morning. The plunge pool is perfect for soaking after a long day and you can customize the jets. The casita is lovely and it's exactly as pictured plus each room comes with its own Netflix account. The service is top notch and honestly what made this place that much better. Jogebeth greeted us and we were able to check in a little early and check out the property. We never got to swim in the pools cause we loved our own but they had a nice setup and it was never crowded. The main restaurant is available all day and breakfast is free though it's still table service so don't expect a buffet. It's a bit pricey but the food and ingredients are fresh and I loved the freshly squeezed juices with breakfast. Ronald, the host, was always helpful and Oscar, the bartender, was an absolute joy so we did the mixology class with him (amazing) and the Central American rum tasting - both fun options at the hotel. We also recommend the Tico... We stayed at Amro Arenal for our honeymoon and got the honeymoon package (romantic room setup, massage, and private dinner) and it's totally worth it. Ronald, the host, was always helpful and Oscar, the bartender, was an absolute joy so we did the mixology class with him (amazing) and the Central American rum tasting - both fun options at the hotel. We also recommend the Tico Grill for the special grill dinner that comes with two types of meat each and an assembly of sides plus dessert (and drinks if you pay additional). It's A LOT so we recommend skipping the drinks and choosing different meats as they provide a good portion - Valeria, the host there, was very accommodating and helpful. Jose was our waiter for the private dinner for the honeymoon package and he was wonderful having set up the room with petals everywhere, music, and candles. We could hear and see the jungle while we enjoyed the delicious meal that include filet mignon, sea bass, and lobster. They take you around in golf carts everywhere so you don't have to walk to any location on the property unless you want to but we liked the walk (though be careful at night with the critters and if you're uphill). Get the chocolate cake at the bakery (it's decadent) and enjoy all the drinks in the minibar as they are included. The yoga is free and it's so peaceful in that room but we also loved the meditation room for the views of the jungle. Definitely splurge on the spa if that's something you enjoy - get their signature massage and relax while listening to the rain and birds. We booked everything through the hotel because it was easier so they printed an itinerary that included details, time, and cost. Things to keep in mind: There are critters and bugs so be careful when walking at night or when you're on the patio. If you get room service there is an additional charge & if you refill the minibar (including water) it's a little pricey. We left a little tip each time but if you eat at the restaurant every day (we did for breakfast and usually dinner) it adds up so make sure to budget for that. The one thing we wish was a little clearer with the bill because when you get the bill when you check out, if you're like us and book activities through the hotel and charge every meal to the room, it's gonna be kinda difficult to understand what each charge is. If you want to check it item by item you will need help. They can also set you up with pickup and dropoff to the airport and that's super helpful we highly recommend it because it's quite a trek. Overall we'd definitely stay there again - truly EVERYONE we encountered was so polite and helpful. At one the waiter came to us and asked if we wanted to see a toucan (not easy to spot) and it's that kind of attentiveness that we appreciated. The grounds are beautiful and we loved the privacy and the consistently good service so we'd definitely come back. More
We stayed at Amor for two days and so wished we had stayed longer. This property is like being transported to another world. We learned the property had been an... read more organic farm and still maintains all of the lush flora and fauna. The individual villas are gorgeous with beautiful wood, high ceilings, and windows. Each villa has its own private deck and plunge pool. The shower window wall is just like taking a shower in the rainforest without the bugs.
The staff is fantastic! So attentive and kind. There is one restaurant and the food was delicious. Breakfast is included and is incredible. We also had lunch and dinner there. All meals were 5 star quality. I also had a facial treatment at the spa and it was one of the very best spa experiences I have ever had. The property has two hiking trails. My husband and I hiked the easier one twice. It was just beautiful and challenging enough to work up a sweat.
My only suggestions would be to have loungers at the pools instead of just Adirondack chairs. I found them to not be comfortable for an extended time. However, fabulous swim up bar and great craft cocktails. We will definitely return!! More
Unbelievable!!! - This place is a slice of heaven. To say this was the best place I have stayed is an understatement. Absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and the the people are... read more second to none. We wanted for nothing the entire stay. The place was entirely booked and we felt like we were there by ourselves. Food was delicious and the excursions where top notch. We will be back!!!
